Service Assistant - Belden Village

Canton, OH

Basic Purpose of Position:


Provides assistance to the service, bartending and host/hostess staff in maintaining the smooth operation of guest service in the restaurant. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment. Directs, implements and maintains a philosophy congruent with FoodFirst Global Restaurant’s culture, which serves as a guide to all staff members.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain a complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies and procedures and service standards
  • Ensure proper documentation for all accidents and incidents per FoodFirst Global Restuarant policies and procedures
  • Maintain a complete knowledge of property layouts, table/seat/station numbers, proper table setups, room capacity, hours of operation, price ranges and dress codes
  • Maintains complete knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation methods, cook time, major ingredients, quality standards, taste, appearance of products, texture, serving temperature, garnish and plate presentation
  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service to multiple guests within any given period of time
  • Ability to endure abundant physical movements throughout the work area
  • Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision
  • Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and FoodFirst Global Restaurant standards of operation
  • Inspect cleanliness and organization of line workstations; rectify deficiencies and maintain throughout the shift 
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of assigned tables
  • Place additional utensils and wares on tables as directed 
  • Clean and rest tables immediately after guest departs in accordance with FoodFirst Global Restuarant procedures
  • Replenishes ware in side stations throughout shift
  • Busses tables and provides assistance to staff with guest needs
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas
  • Be familiar with all restaurant services, features, as well as local attractions and activities, and respond to guest inquiries accurately 
  • Follow weekly deep cleaning schedule
  • Maintain a complete knowledge of preventative maintenance policies and procedures
  • Facilitate and maintain a complete knowledge of computer systems and FoodFirst Global Restaurant policies and procedures 
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table setups and room capacity limits
  • Restocks bar items for bartenders and service staff as requested
  • Empties trash cans when needed
  • Properly store all reusable goods
  • Transport all dirty linen to laundry area
  • Assist with banquet needs as requested
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as scheduled
  • Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and facility requirements
  • Corrects unsafe practices or conditions
  • Ensure all open/closing duties are completed before an employee leaves
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor


Secondary Job Functions:

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients, and other employees of the organization


Mathematical Skills:


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance


Reasoning Skills:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed by uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled format


Computer Skills: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a general knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products
